To get the most out of your sleep apnea therapy, using your CPAP machine is only half the battle. The other half is making sure you inspect and replace your supplies as often as needed to maximize seal, comfort and health benefits.

If you don’t replace your toothbrush every 3–4 months, the bristles wear down, fall out and your toothbrush becomes much less effective in cleaning your teeth. Similar things happen to CPAP masks and supplies with use. For instance, mask cushions collect dirt, oil and bacteria from your face. These can deposit back onto your face while you sleep and cause skin irritation as well as create odors and affect how well the mask seals.

CPAP machine filters also need to be changed out for the same reasons that your car and vacuum filters do; build-up over time makes them less effective and may even contribute to nasal symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose and watery eyes.

Based on general wear and tear, we suggest that you use the Replacement Guidelines below. Please keep in the mind that simply cleaning will not kill all mold and bacteria that can grow over time. All of the items are considered disposable and should be replaced on a regular basis to maximize your health and prevent sinus infections.  

How the program works
